I just finished a 4 night stay at the Sheraton Downtown Los Angeles. I was placed in this hotel as part of a conference. I've stayed in a few hotels in downtown LA, and after staying at the Sheraton I can say that there are much better options.
There's really nothing terribly wrong with the Sheraton. But there's nothing that makes it a standout either. Location to the LA Convention Center is fine - about a 15 min walk. It's easy to get on the freeway to get elsewhere.
The room was at best average, if not a little worn. Colors were dark, and while I had plenty of windows and left the drapes mostly open it never felt like the room was light enough. The furniture showed wear and tear, as did the carpet. What's surprising is that they renovated the hotel a year or two ago.
The lobby was fine with lots of sitting space for casual conversation. The bar was lively, in large part because of the conference in town. The restaurant served a passable breakfast.
There's no fitness center, but guests get a free pass to the Bally's right across the way, which is great.
No real problems or issues. But if staying downtown you can do much better.
