“Better Optionos in Downtown LA”

Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown Hotel

I just finished a 4 night stay at the Sheraton Downtown Los Angeles. I was placed in this hotel as part of a conference. I've stayed in a few hotels in downtown LA, and after staying at the Sheraton I can say that there are much better options.

There's really nothing terribly wrong with the Sheraton. But there's nothing that makes it a standout either. Location to the LA Convention Center is fine - about a 15 min walk. It's easy to get on the freeway to get elsewhere.

The room was at best average, if not a little worn. Colors were dark, and while I had plenty of windows and left the drapes mostly open it never felt like the room was light enough. The furniture showed wear and tear, as did the carpet. What's surprising is that they renovated the hotel a year or two ago.

The lobby was fine with lots of sitting space for casual conversation. The bar was lively, in large part because of the conference in town. The restaurant served a passable breakfast.

There's no fitness center, but guests get a free pass to the Bally's right across the way, which is great.

No real problems or issues. But if staying downtown you can do much better.

“Great Hotel, Location, Transportation”

Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown Hotel

I stayed at this hotel in January, but this time a one-block walk revealed new opportunities for me (and you) for convenient transportation if you don't have a car.

Check-in was very smooth through the courteous registration staff, even at 11:00 am. My king-sized bed room was spacious and accommodating.

If you're a Starwood member, the water in your room ($5 each bottle) is complimentary, at least at this location. If you don't want to join, a Rite Aid is just across the street with water under $1 for each giant bottle and plenty of goodies for snacking.

My only problem in the room was that the heat did not work. Be sure that your night clothes are not thin, as the blanket and other linens on the bed may not be enough to warm you.

The hotel is attached to a mall with Macy's, a U.S. Post Office, and other shops, including upscale and fast food eateries. As a guest, you are provided with complimentary passes to Bally's for fitness, in the mall across from the hotel.

One block over, on South Flower Street, there's a Quiznos and plenty of transportation by bus and train (Metro) to travel to different parts of Los Angeles. A Subway sandwich shop and IHOP are also close.

If you have a car, self parking is available at the hotel for $26.

I enjoyed my stay and put this hotel on my "will visit again" list. It's a downtown location, so don't expect to see the Pacific Ocean or be surrounded by a relaxed, casual environment.

“Inconsistent”

Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown Hotel

I stayed at the Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown while attending a professional conference at the Convention Center. Over all my stay was above average, however, I felt it was inconsistent in service and amenities for a Sheraton.
Check in was great and my room was spacious and comfortable. I was disappointed in the hotel information provided in the information folder. There one one sheet of paper explaining room service. That was all. Upon check out, I did not receive a bill under my door as I was expecting. When I went to the desk, it was clear that was something that should have taken place. The staff was friendly and helpful, the food at the bar and casual resturaunt was terrific and priced appropriately.

“Decent Downtown LA hotel - Pleasantly surprised!”

I got the Sheraton through Priceline and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The Lobby area was very nice, the desk staff polite and the concierge was extremely helpful. The room was a very decent size although I got the customary priceline room with a view of wall – not an issue for me.
In fact I’m surprised this is deemed a 3* by Priceline as I have stayed in hotels they consider 4* that were nowhere near as nice.
Location wise you will be in a good central spot in the Downtown area so it’s an excellent base for activities in that part of town and you’re also right by a subway if needed. Overall a decent hotel in my opinion.

“Terrible Setup, Mediocre Hotel”

Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown Hotel

2 of 5 stars
Los Angeles

I stayed at this hotel from 5/25 - 5/26 for a leisure trip in Los Angeles. For people driving to the hotel, keep in mind that parking is $22 which was not mentioned anywhere when I booked the reservation. Also, actually getting to the parking structure is quite confusing and strange. You have to go into the Macy's Parking structure which is located on level 4, 5, 6. To get up there you have to go up a twirling circle that gets you very, very dizzy. After you do that you have to go down to the level floor where the entrance to the Sheraton is located. I have never experienced anything like this before.

I checked in early with no problem around 12 P.M. I was given a room on the 22nd floor (given an upgrade as an elite SPG member). The room itself was very average. For the price, location, brand and reputation, I thought that the hotel could have been MUCH better. The room are a very old style of Sheratons’ while many of the other Sheratons have invested to keep up with modern trends (i.e. plasma TV’s, more vibrant colors). The room itself was very clean, good amenities and decent in size. There was nothing to brag about of the hotel. Noise level was pretty good partly because the hotel was pretty empty. I was visiting many tourist attractions so I had to keep going in and out of the parking structure which really, really annoyed me. I came back to my room around midnight and when I went to the ground floor of the mall going back to the Sheraton, I really was scared. It was like being trapped in a dark mall and night.

Overall, the hotel itself is not bad, not good just average. I really don’t have anything good to say about the hotel but I hated how the hotel was set up. I will probably go somewhere else next time.
