Stayed at the LAX Renaissance as a quick place to stay after arriving late into LAX at the start of our trip.
First, if you arrive late (after 11pm), their shuttle hardly ever shows up. We waited in the exhaust fumes for 30 mins before calling the hotel. All of the other hotel shuttles arrived - just not ours.
When we called, they told us to book a cab and they would reimburse. Cab fare was $20 with tip. I asked the Cabbie when we got in if he took credit cards. He said "yep". When we arrived, he told me he did not take credit cards, and pointed to the ATM in the hotel lobby.
Lobby is nice and clean and updated. It's very close to the airport. Hertz rentals is within walking distance (about two long blocks).
The room is very small and has a musty smell. The A/C barely kept the room warmish-cool. The bathroom was worn out and old, but not dirty. The staff was generally nice and efficient though it took me a few calls to get extra pillows and towels.
Internet is available for a cost. It's generally pretty quiet. So I would recommend it for a no-frills, but expensive, one night stay after or before a flight at LAX.
