Past experiences with Heritage Inns & Vagabondhave always been satsifactory; so no problem with booking there. Needed to be close to hospital, which it is.
Price quoted on the phone (AAA) was not the price I was charged upon checkout. (Ten dollars more per nite). Because of unexpected extended visit (due to husbands surgery), each day I called in to renew for another nite, I was required to come to the office and re-sign in; and each day they did forgot to renew my door key...which meant an additional trip to the office.
This happened repeatedly four days. I was told the keys are "one day only" keys.
Although the place is not new, it is terrible condition inside. The tub had no plug to hold water; the sink in the bathroom also was not able to hold water (in-op plug). The toilet barely flushed; had to hold the handle down each time. The toilet tank l lid apparently had been broken before and had been replaced with a tank lid that belonged to another type of toilet. Did not even have the same shape so did not fit closed. (Could see water through the sidesof the tank lid).
The door molding had been torn off at some time and never was fixed. Therefore, sunshine shown through the 1" gap all around. This was the same in my daughter's room next door.
One could see that maintenance was of a low priority. Even though I had notified the office I was staying over; approximately at 11:30 A.M. a housekeeper would knock on the door and yell "housekeeping!" to ask if you were staying over! This was aggrevating, since I had been up very late at the hospital, and had already noticed the office. This happened each and every day of my stay.
It was not an experience I would prefer to repeat. I will not ever likely stay at the Modesto Heritage (Vagabond) ever again. Nor would I recommend it to family or friends.
