Singapore Grill promotes itself heavily with color advertisements in the local paper and tourist handouts.
There's a reason why it has to.
The menu takes an eclectic stab at malay, japanese and singaporean dishes as well as many "specialty" sushi rolls -primarily comprised of ingredients like cream cheese. We took the cautious route and ordered the "Pineapple Chicken" as our main entree. What arrived was a microwaved chicken breast with canned pineapple chunks swimming in a cornstarch slurry.
Caveat emptor. If you liked scoops of chop suey piled high on your tray in your high school, then this is your idea of Asian paradise.
Then again, when you are in a restaurant like this and are asked four times by the waitstaff if you would prefer a fork over chopsticks, you're bound to realize that this is not authentic fare.
For real Asian not dumbed down to the tastes of shoreline Connecticut, try Bangkok City/Little Tokyo five minutes away. Far superior in every way.
