We stayed here mid April, two adults and four children (ages 8, 9, 10, 11) and absolutely loved it! We've stayed in the past at the Casa Marina, but given the nightmare of the construction (not to mention the price), this was a perfect alternative at a great price. We even got to use our favorite beach at The Reach because it was closed while we were there and was being handled by Barefoot Billy, who had the watersports still available.
Our room was wonderfully clean, plenty spacious for our group, and when we found a couple of minor issues in the room, it was literally fixed the same day (we mentioned it to the front desk in the morning, when we returned late in the afternoon everything was fixed...excellent service.) We were in A-201, which was a perfect location for us--next to Louie's Backyard but I found no issues with noise or sound from the restaurant at all.
There is a single cleaning during the week, though for a small fee you can have an additional cleaning. We found it was not necessary, and they provided a few extra towels and toilet paper, etc. upon request. The kitchen is great--we loved being able to have breakfast and lunch in the room, a giant cost saver when there with six of us! We go to the local Publix our first day in town and stock up on water and food for the daytime, and ate in our favorite haunts at night (don't miss Blue Heaven, El Meson de Pepe's or Mangia Mangia!).
They have a lovely pool (and several resident cats), plus access to the beaches and water, with the bonus of being next to dog beach, where locals bring their dogs to play fetch and cool off. We had no problem parking (and we had a large Cadillac Escalade to manuever), mostly parking in the little underground lot, on the street a couple of times.
This trip was a rental of an owner's week, but we had such an incredible time we are highly considering purchasing a week or two at this resort for ourselves. At the very least, we'd absolutely rent here again! I suppose if there were any negatives, the porches are entirely shared, so if you're looking for privacy in an evening on a balcony, you are sort of sharing with your neighbors. The location is at a quieter part of the island, but we had a car and never had an issue with getting anywhere. Do carry lots of quarters for street parking, though after a while it's possible to find free parking if you're patient about looking.
We have been coming to Key West for years and could not be happier with this find--if you are considering Coconut Beach, you won't be disappointed. And don't forget to see Dominique and his Famous Flying Housecats during the sunset at Mallory Beach--he's one of the major highlights of our trip every year!
