Although the hotel is directly on Duval street and next to a wonderful pizza place, in my experience, the hotel staff does not act like they want your business. From the first minute I arrived, I felt like the staff looked down upon me and treated me with disrespect.

The rooms are adequate. The locks on the doors don't work very well and there is mold and cracked tiles in the bathroom. This is where I (and two other rooms) got charged for things that we had absolutely had no control over. The police became involved, but, unfortunately, they could not do anything except advise us to pursue legal action.

All in all, I do not recommend staying at this hotel.

We booked february7-10 with another couple also (2 rooms). the staff was OK but not overly friendly, the rooms were OK, towels & sheets clean overall cleanliness OK---No bugs or rodents that we could see. A brewed coffee pot in the lobby would have been nice as all the had was instant coffee, although dunkin donuts was across the street. Location was wonderful sun deck & pool/jacuzzi area nice touch for downtown duval street. The rooms seemed a bit dated but when you see the rest of key west (needed to get acclimated) it was ok for the money. Location is everything and pegasus was great to come back to after partying all night. The jacuzzi felt great the next morning but could have been a little cleaner. The Walgreens 2 doors down was convenient. The "damn good staff" cleaning crew were nice & we made sure we left a tip for them everyday and the room was always clean to come back to. We would consider staying here again the $200/night seems like what you would pay for $70 back home but in key west you are definitely paying for it.

This is nothing to write home about but it was a great price for the location during Key West Race Week when hotels are priced high. We had a decent room, clean but not new. The pool was OK but not heated.

My wife and I drove to Key West on impulse (we were in Miami) and had no hotel room booked. We spent the afternoon on Duval St and didn't want to move our car, so looked for a hotel on Duval. We found the Pegasus. The hotel was sold out, save for one room, which the desk clerk showed to us before renting it to us. We assume this room was at one time a manager's apartment. It was a small room with one double bed but it served our purposes.

After walking Duval St for a few more hours, we came back to take a swim. The pool/deck area is very nice in appearance. While we were floating around in the pool, however, we saw a rat run across the deck. Yuck. And if there was any chance we were wrong about it being a rat, we were able to confirm it a bit later when the rat (I hope it was the same one) came back across the deck and climbed the lattice. I gotta say, it was pretty difficult to leave the pool and go back to our room and sleep comfortably after seeing a rat.

We reported the rat to the girl at the front desk, but she didn't seem real interested.

So, as far as the title I gave this review, if you're looking for location (and the deck area does look over Duval St), this hotel is a good choice. But if you're more concerned about sanitary room conditions, I suggest you look elsewhere.
