“FILTHY is too mild a word to describe this dump”

Pegasus International Hotel

I travel a lot for my job and stay in all kinds of places from basic budget roadside motels to world class hotels. This hotel is by far the worst I have ever stayed in, including one that had a pizza box full of crusts under the bed and one that had 2 four inch long dead cockroaches on the floor.
The ONLY good thing you can say about this place is it's location and that's only if you are into loud, all-night partying because it's right on Duval Street which is Key West's version of Bourbon Street in New Orleans. The sheets were not changed before we got there but the bed was made. There were 2 large gobs of hair (not ours) in the bed, food stains on the sheets, a large brown stain on the bedspread, moldy shower, the toilet overflowed the first morning we were there so we had to use the bathroom by the pool that didn't have any toilet paper (for 2 days despite reporting it), the locks on the doors didn't work and there was a hamper-cart full of dirty sheets in the hall outside our door the entire time we were there. The upholstered chairs were so filthy you definitely wouldn't want to sit on them, the airconditioner sounded like a screeching jet engine and the staff is completely indifferent. The owner/manager, however was not indifferent, he was RUDE and threatened to call the police on us when we complained after swearing at us because we had the audacity to want clean sheets. He actually told us we should have slept in the other bed! I am disputing the charges with my cc company because we left and they would not refund the 2 nights that we did not stay there. We spent the rest of the time at a lovely B&B called Azul that I would highly recommend. Do yourself a favor and stay at a Key West Guest House or B&B and avoid this place.

“Dirty rooms, management don't care”

Pegasus International Hotel

Sometime the write-ups about some hotels can be misleading. We have been to Key West several times and this was the first (and Last) that we used online reservation.

The rooms we were guaranteed looked nothing like what we got. The room was dirty, sheets had not been changed, and I can't describe the restroom. We called to for a diiferent room and the front desk clerk said that this was the room type we requested. So we asked to speak with management,so they got us someone, how says he was the owner. I wouldn't had claimed this property. He stated we are creating a scene and if we don't calm down he would call the police. As a matter of fact we wanted him too.I say we were not staying,he said he would not refund us. l say I'd work this with my credit card company, so we moved to a great little b&b down the street for half the price.

So if you are making reservation through an online service, please check out was you are getting in to.

“Great Location-Horrible Service”

Pegasus International Hotel

Although the hotel is directly on Duval street and next to a wonderful pizza place, in my experience, the hotel staff does not act like they want your business. From the first minute I arrived, I felt like the staff looked down upon me and treated me with disrespect.

The rooms are adequate. The locks on the doors don't work very well and there is mold and cracked tiles in the bathroom. This is where I (and two other rooms) got charged for things that we had absolutely had no control over. The police became involved, but, unfortunately, they could not do anything except advise us to pursue legal action.

All in all, I do not recommend staying at this hotel.

“Not so bad”

We booked february7-10 with another couple also (2 rooms). the staff was OK but not overly friendly, the rooms were OK, towels & sheets clean overall cleanliness OK---No bugs or rodents that we could see. A brewed coffee pot in the lobby would have been nice as all the had was instant coffee, although dunkin donuts was across the street. Location was wonderful sun deck & pool/jacuzzi area nice touch for downtown duval street. The rooms seemed a bit dated but when you see the rest of key west (needed to get acclimated) it was ok for the money. Location is everything and pegasus was great to come back to after partying all night. The jacuzzi felt great the next morning but could have been a little cleaner. The Walgreens 2 doors down was convenient. The "damn good staff" cleaning crew were nice & we made sure we left a tip for them everyday and the room was always clean to come back to. We would consider staying here again the $200/night seems like what you would pay for $70 back home but in key west you are definitely paying for it.

“Budget Hotel - not bad”

This is nothing to write home about but it was a great price for the location during Key West Race Week when hotels are priced high. We had a decent room, clean but not new. The pool was OK but not heated.
