I was there for business and it may be the worst service experience I've ever had in the US.
The freight elevator was out of service, something I discovered happens all the time, and their atitude was - "Well, it's an old building and it's the original elevator. Just bring your stuff in through the lobby." This wouldn't have been a big deal if we were there for an afternoon of small breakout meetings but we were loading in for a week of big production work. We had multiple screens, flying truss, intelligent lighting, etc. It was a ton of gear! On top of that, Freeman was loading out from a week in that same space. So there we all were - guests departing with luggage, my group arriving from the airport, Freeman pushing out large flats, carts and displays and my guys loading in all the gear we're about to setup. It looked exactly like the Miami airport - mass confusion and congestion. And they thought that was a perfectly acceptable way to run a hotel.
The list of things that would go wrong:
1) All Keys quit working half-way through the week
2) All over the hotel, rooms were leaking bad enough that we had to move people out of sleeping rooms and administrative offices practically every day.
3) The breakout rooms on the lower level smelled like mold/mildew.
4) No one in the hotel will ever answer their phones or return any messages
5) EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING, takes 3-4 hours to get done. This became an ongoing joke but it's no laughing matter if you need something quickly.
6) They actually wanted to argue with us on the last day about some of the things we brought up. They tried to deny that we had any service related issues what-so-ever. They said that we should have called engineering or catering or banquets, or in-house AV and the problems would have been addressed immediately. When we told them we called each and every one one of these departments several times a day (that is no exageration) they didn't believe us. Did they think we were happy about sitting in rooms watching soggy acoustic tiles fall onto our presenters? Did they think we enjoyed sitting in a ballroom that was well over 100 degrees for a day and a half? I was speechless. We are not a meek and mild bunch. We complained every single day to our salesperson and nothing ever got done. And then they had the audacity to blame us for not calling often enough or for not calling the right department? Unfreakingbelievable.
Do not go here for business, ever. I wanted to secretly make the vampire cross sign with my fingers to all the groups that were coming through the ballroom on site visits. Those poor people....
