First to start the downward sprial of our visit to Doral: We were quoted a price and told we would receive a $25. gift certificate for each night of our stay, we were guaranteed a king size bed--both WRONG!!! The gift certificate was for 1 night only and only on a weekend night, (we were staying during the week) the reservation woman made a mistake, when we arrived they had no king size beds and we were told we would have one the next night, we were never even contacted by the front desk regarding the matter for our 3 night stay. The staff was VERY UNFRIENDLY. We ordered from the coffee place 3 different times and never once was our order right and they never even said they were sorry. When I booked my spa I was told the treatment was $130.00 and when it was time to go to the spa they called the room to inform me they no longer had the treatment I requested but had something like it but the cost would be $160. When it was time to check out, we called for a bellman and after waiting 25 minutes and calling again, we loaded our own car. With all the above problems, don't you think at least someone would have been concerned with our problems??? Seems not!!! We had wanted to stay at this resort and never had the chance so since it was our 30th anniversary, we thought it would be a great place to stay---boy were we wrong.
We ONLY stay at Marriott properties and they are always above and beyond our expectations, but someone really dropped the ball on this one.

The Doral Golf Resort and Spa is a wonderful hotel. Although the hotel is getting older, the lobby area was recently updated and it is a great place to hang out. There are five restaurants, all with spectacular dining options. The pools and slide are all very delightful. There is a beach style pool which was perfect for young children and for laying out. The pool ambiance is mostly women and children. The golfing is as good as it gets. With four golf courses on the property (two of which are PGA tournament courses) you can't go wrong with playing golf at Doral. The Blue Monster is the best golf course in Southern Florida and it is just steps away from you hotel room. The Spa is huge and it has all the services you can imagine. The Spa gym is small but useful and the classes are great. It is close to South Beach, only about a 25 minute car ride, yet secluded. I loved this hotel and I truly recommend it!!!!

We stayed at Doral at the end of June 2008 to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday--he is an avid golfer and the golf packages for this time of year were cheap $189/night including one round of golf per room and breakfast. What they failed to mention is that they had just aeriated the greens....The buildings are old, but well kept and the grounds were immaculate. However, the walls are THIN! The phone rang at 1am in the next room, and it sounded like the phone was in our room and we could hear every word of the young lady's conversation. The next night, the young lady got in around 3am, and I swear I could smell their McDonald's french fries! The spa and gym are nice as are the pools. The location is airport industrial, and South Beach is a good 25 minute drive away. The restaurant and bars are a bit pricey, but the food quality was good.
All in all, I would only stay at the Doral again for golf-- and would ask about the course conditions specifically beforehand.

My wife and I and two friends stayed at the Doral Spa and Golf Resort in late June. We all really enjoyed this resort. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were very nice. We had a suite that was very large, it had two bathrooms a king size bed and two pull out couches in the living room area. The resort is very large and the rooms are very spread out. But, it was just a short walk to the parking area, pool and lobby. The resort surrounds several beautiful golf courses. The lobby area is very nice, and the grounds are beautiful. The resort has several nice dining choices and a starbucks type coffee shop. The gym area was very nice and well equipped. The gym did not charge an extra fee to use the facilities. The pool area is great. There was a ton of lounge chairs, live music, water slides, water falls and good food and drink choices. The area outside the resort seemed a little scary. There was a large amount of police action going on as we drove around town. While on the resort grounds you do not see or hear any of the Police action going on. The resort is very close to the Miami airport and would make a nice place to stay between flights. Overall I would recommend this resort, especially if you are a golfer!!
