This is a very, very nice hotel, with wonderful staff. My wife and I stayed for two nights in August and were very satisfied with our stay, and would gladly return.
We were in a “bay view” room, and I would concur with another reviewer who said that the “bay view” room isn’t all that great. While you can see the bay, in between the bay and the hotel are a number of condominium-type buildings, as well as big parking lots. So the view is far from breathtaking (I didn’t see the “city view,” so can’t comment on that), and it didn’t help that the exterior of our hotel window was very much on the dirty side.
The pool is real selling point (even if you’re somewhat surrounded by those condo buildings). It’s big, long (34 meters) lots of nice chairs, great staff, and free cabanas. If you're looking for South Beach-style bling, this isn't your place.
If you’re choosing between the Four Seasons and the Mandarin, the pool at the Four Seasons is far superior. Much bigger, and with much more space around it. Similarly, having access to the Sports Club/LA at the Four Seasons is a big plus, as there are lots of classes offered.
We ate breakfast in Acqua twice and found it excellent both times. My wife got a massage in the spa, and said it was very nice, though very pricey ($300, with tip, for 80 minutes).
