“Acceptable but nothing special”

Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay

This is an 'average' Marriott, so still more than acceptable, even if not likely to be the best expereince in your life.

The hotel interior looks a little dated (lobby, corridors etc.) but the rooms were decorated to usual marriott standard.

Managed to get a move to a room facing the bay on 26th floor and the views were of course amazing.

Staff were friendly enough though I found that the restaurant staff were very obsessed with making sure they got the 'right' gratuity. I know gratuities are important n the US but here they seemed overly concerned with this.

We used the pool once as well and it was fine, though a little cold.

I was a bit annoyed that over the weekend they closed the club lounge (I'm a Marriott elite member so this provides me and my family with free breakfast/snacks). This struck me as an unnecessarily cheap thing to do. When I complained I was give some breakfast vouchers but had I not done so I wouldnt have had any.

Didnt expect to have to pay 25 USD to park per day (actually I paid 28 for lobby parking) but there is little in the way of competeng parking nearby and that which is available is same price.

So overall it was fine - Marriott's usually are - and it wouldnt be a disaster to stay there again with my familly - but i'd probably look elsewhere first

“Great for night before cruise”

Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay

Clean room , upgraded bedding, with excellent view of the bay. We had booked with a special AAA rate of $130 per night, I can't imagine paying the online rate for this hotel, it was nice, but not up to the price listed for the room. The mall area between the Marriott and The Doubletree had several shops for items you may have forgotten and a nice deli/bakery.The front desk staff was exceptional in giving us info for visiting South Beach for dinner. I would enjoy staying here again before a cruise. We checked out, grabbed a cab and were at the port in about 15 minutes total.

“Stay here if you're using Marriott Points”

Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay

2 of 5 stars
Royal Oak, Michigan
Apr 13, 2008

Initially I was pleased with the Marriott Key Biscayne. As others have mentioned the rooms were outdated, but every room appeared to have a balcony and a great view of Downtown Miami as well as a view out to South Beach. You really couldn't beat it. The staff upon check-out was extremely friendly. A seemingly good stay until I realized I forgot my toiletry bag at the hotel.

I called and spoke to an extremely unhelpful Security person. He was not concerned about my lost bag until I called again the next day and asked to speak to management (then he aimed to please). I realize it wasn't their fault I left my bag and thankfully there wasn't anything of great value in it, but the bag was important to me and I expected them to act in kind. The manager did call back and apologized for the poor service I received. He told me he would do one more check for my bag and would call. It's been two weeks and I've never heard anything again.

This incident soured my pleasant stay. I would only stay here again if it was free or by using my Marriott points. The only positives were the balcony views and the bartender who made great drinks.

“Nice Rooms!!! Horrible Restaurant and Room Service”

Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay

Apr 12, 2008

This is a great hotel for Pre/Post Cruise from the Port of Miami. It is about 2 miles from the port. The lobby and front reception area is very clean and well cared for.

Valet and baggage assistance is hit or miss but efficient overall.

Rooms: Rooms are very nice and I recommend you ask for a room with a balcony facing the cruise port. Allthough most of the rooms have side views of Biscayne Bay on both sides of the hotel you have either high rise residential condos or the doubletree on the north side. Some of the rooms have the strange entry configuration and the bathrooms are small for Marriott standards.

Room Service/Restaurant: Geez what can I say? This department is incredibly lacking in both efficiency and anything else for that matter.

Ordered 2 Cuban Sandwiches and 2 orders of Fried Plaintains. Took 1 hour 20 minutes. Cuban Sandwiches are pretty simple to make and authentic cuban sandwiches even don't take over an hour to make. When she finally arrived she practically wiped out my laptop and just wisked passport and papers right off the table to make room for the tray. (Another one of those Marriotts that don't believe in leaving the guests anything to eat off except those ackward trays. She was pretty taken back about my discontent about my documents and my laptop being whisked off the table like it was no problem to just disconnect my laptop from the internet without even asking or even providing a response to my 3 repeated requests for the table to eat on.

I spoke to another guest in the elevator on the way up from the lobby and they said that they had pretty horrible service in the restaurant.

At the time of the review I ordered 2 Cookies and Creams Ice Creams over 40 minutes ago!!! Definetly up to the Marriott standard of service in regards to the Food and Beverage Department.

Would I stay here again? Probably not, unless going out of the port of miami again on another cruise, and even then I would eat out somewhere instead of trusting this hotel to ever deliver what the Marriott name has come to mean to a Marriott loyalist.

“Don't stay here ... there are much better hotels in Miami”

Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay

Second to none??? Yeah ... I haven't stayed at such a bad hotel in ages. Standing in the lobby some papers I was reviewing got wet ... condensation dripping from the ceiling. Internet technology so outdated that the technician had to come each of the two days I stayed to fix the box and get me connected (a colleague had the same issue). As a bonus, I had to re-start my computer three times ... just what a business traveler wants. Staff not helpful. Asking for a drug store, the concierge sent me blocks away in a taxi, only to later find out that there is a pharmacy in the shopping area attached to the hotel. The room ... standard, but my non-smoking room had been smoked in and I ran out of toilet paper. Used the laundry service, and got my underwear back squished into a ball, all rumpled and still damp. And the caper ... I watched a movie, or tried to. Halfway through, I used the pause function. After a short while, the movie disappeared from my screen, and I was given these choices: Start over, or let it be and get a 10% discount. Ah, after protesting, I also got an apology and the discount was increased to 20%. This place isn't worthy of the Marriott name.
