Stayed for the third time before Christmas. Staff more than helpful. Room basic but clean and the location perfect for eating out and travelling to the parks.
Have yet to be dissapointed with this great, low cost hotel

We booked this hotel on the spur of the moment for the Thanksgiving weekend, We saw a special rate of $29 per night and decided to book it. I am glad we did. I would agree with the reviews that call the property worn and dated; however, I would imagine that most hotels in the Orlando hotel see a lot of wear and tear year-round. At $29 per night, I think this hotel was definitely worth the price. Our room had a definite musty smell, probably due to the humidity, wet swimsuits being dropped on the floor, wet guests coming in from the rain, etc. however we were in our room very little so we weren't bothered. The breakfast buffet was $5.95 while we were there, and free for kids 9/under with a paying adult. It offered a decent selection of items, and was worth the price to fill up there before we hit the parks where food costs much, MUCH more. Cereal, pancakes, eggs, bacon, fruit, sausage, etc were all available.
I would disagree with the reviews that implied that any of the staff were rude. We found the restaurant servers to be very pleasant and efficient. We only had minimal contact with the desk staff but they were pleasant as well. The housekeeping staff were very pleasant and helpful. We also had no security concerns or problems unlike other reviewers.
If you remember that you get what you pay for, and that this is not a 5 star hotel, I think you will be pleased with your choice of hotel.
I decided to take my family to WDW for the Thanksgiving weekend. As I am looking to book a hotel in the WDW area, I receive the top 20 deals email from Travelzoo. I could not believe my eyes when I saw a $29.00 a night at the Orlando Quality Inn Plaza at International Dr. I read the reviews and they were pretty scary but, the low hotel rate reeled me in. A place to shower and sleep. How bad can it be?
Well, the bad stories are all true but so are the good ones.
THE GOOD: The hotel is in a very nice area. You can walk to many restaurants and do lots of shopping. The hotel has a nice appearance from the street. The green areas and landscaping are nice and were clean and groomed. The pool was nice. The hotel location is very convenient to get to Sea World, Wet & Wild and the Universal Parks. It is also a short drive to Downtown Disney and all Disney Parks. My check in was at midnight after doing MK all day. There was no one else there so it was painless. Breakfast buffet was just $5.95 per adults and children under 9yrs old eat free. Buffet had all the basics and it did not change much except for the breakfast meat. It included hot items, cereals, fresh and canned fruit, etc., etc. I have to say that for the price it was more than enough to start the day. Service was very good.
THE BAD: The room I got was the standard double beds. As you open the door the old hotel room smell greets you right in. The room has simple décor and definitely is in desperate need of new everything. Nothing too bad and I have to say that you get used to it. Since I got into my room so late at night it all looked ok to me. We just needed a hot shower and recuperate for another park the next day.
THE UGLY: Well… the next morning not everything looked ok to me. The room for the most part was kept clean. Housekeeping did their cleaning rounds every morning and made things tidy. However, it is not deep cleaning by any means or at least there is no scrubbing involved. There were stains in the bathroom walls but, that was nothing, compared to what it looked like a very old and permanent brown stain that the bottom of the toilet. In other words, it appeared that this toilet had not seen a brush and detergent in a very long time. Very bad. It was fecal material painting the walls of the toilet.
I don’t imagine that every room has this problem but you get the idea. Other rooms might be nicer others might be worse. Overall, I was in Orlando vacationing and paying $29.00 a night. I usually pay a lot more. Instead, I bought lots of things for the kids with the money I saved in the accommodations. Did the dirty hotel bathroom ruin our weekend? NO WAY. I know very well, you get what you pay for and in my case I think I got a lot. Keep traveling!
