You definately won't be disappointed at your choice of hotel and location if you choose Springhill Suites. I can honestly say there wasn't a single night I heard a door bang and absolutely no shouting residents, stayed on 7th floor with great views. The room is large, clean and the mini kitchen/fridge is a handy extra although we ate out every night. Lots of choice and prices ranging from just £27 for 4 (full grown teenagers and myself) for all your can eat buffees to £60 for 4 for something a little more special. The complimentary breakfast is a good start to the day. The staff are helpful and polite. Vinny is the nicest guy and always has a smile for everyone.
The disney bus is reliable although a bit clapped out, a bit of a free for all at night getting on and is full for tired legs an option to return about 2pm and 4pm would have been nice but if you really can't wait till 6pm 8pm or 10.30pm then it is $30 in a yellow cab from Epcot which are always there. By the way Universal and Seaworld are $10 in a taxi from the hotel if you need them. But the Itrolley takes you right to Seaworld and for Universal you get off at a Wet and Wild and a 10minute walk from there to the bus station at City Walk where you can take the elevator up to the entrance . Again is safe (perhaps would not choose to this one in the dark as single mum though)
As mentioned I am a single mum and the walk to International Drive through the car parks is short and safe even in the dark so no worries there. Universal Boulvevard is definately a quieter and prefferred location trust me. You are in the centre of everything but with peace and quiet.
I-trolleys available just outside the hotel and I-drive they are ok but half an hour can seem a long time to wait in the sun and they can be crammed full and if doing it again would take the Lynx bus option slightly dearer but I think would be worth it once you got used to the routes. All they need is a few more trolleys on the road and it would make all the difference! Itrolley passes $16 for two weeks are available from Wallgreens a short walk from the hotel.
Oh and remember a Zebra crossing is not a Zebra Crossing in Orlando but you will eventually become a professional at crossing their 8 lane highways! Ps. they can turn right on a red light if there way is clear and uturn so beware. Even when the white hand shows they can cross the Zebra so keep on your toes.!
Have an great holiday I know you will! Oh and remember to budget for lots of tips probably the only irratation about eating out, taxis and housekeeping! 15%-20% of your bill it all adds up!
