“Don't book a room here!”

Mana Kai Maui

In no way would I recommend this hotel to anyone - upon booking via internet - was assured of clen - attractive - ocean veiw room - ended up in room that left a lot to be desired - couldn't walk around bed without turning sideways - windows broken and coudl not open - upon alerting staff was told "for 50 bucks we can get you a really nice room!" and "no manager on duty" - by the way, it was a Saturday afternoon in June 2008 at checkin time. No manager on duty? wow!

The ammenities stated do not exist - especially for the overnight traveler.

Better advise tahn booking here - book anywhere else! (or have teh cash on hand to get the room promised!

“The best condo location in Kihei”

Mana Kai Maui

I am sosooooo very glad we decided on the Mana Kai Maui. I would not recommend the hotel room, but the 1 or 2 bedroom condos have the best view and you get an amazing breeze. We loved listening to the waves crash all night. We were never too warm or too cold ... it was perfect! The beach is the best on all the island! The lobby opens up past a small pool area and then right out to the beach. You can walk all the way down into Wallea. It was never too crowded. It was peaceful and not rowdy. Alot of locals walk their dog every morning here. It was clean and safe. If you are looking for more action, than Lahaina or Kaanapali might be a better choice. The kihei surfside is right next door which doesn't compare AT ALL! We were going to stay there, and I'm so glad we spent the extra money. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the food and prices at the restaurant at the hotel.... Go elsewhere! We've been back now for about a week, and my family and I are gong thru withdrawls. I want to go back!!!

“Great location, friendly staff, beautiful grounds, lovely units”

Mana Kai Maui

We arrived at the Mana Kai April 26th and stayed for 5 nights. We are a family of four (kids aged 18 and 23). We had a unit on the top floor, was recently renovated and very nice (kitchen and floors could have been a bit cleaner but not horrible, we did comment this to the rental company we dealt with). Did not know that if we would have rented directly with the Mana Kai, we could have had beach towel service which would have been nice to have. We all agreed that this was a great spot for our stop in Maui before we went on to Honolulu. Maui truly was what we dreamed Hawaii would be. The location of the Mana Kai was ideal, great beach for long walks, snorkelling, swimming. Central location on the island for sightseeing. Went to the luau at the Wailea Marriott, (perfect), went zip lining (great experience and staff), drove to the haleakala crater (mid morning, did not want to do the drive there in the early morning in the dark, glad we made that choice), visited the Iao Needle park (worth the drive) and even did a quick visit to Lahaina for lunch (Kimos, great food and service, overlooking water). Lahaina was nice to visit but happy to return to Kihei. All the renovations done to this building were done with great taste. If we were to return to Maui (hope we will someday) would definitely stay at the Mana Kai again.

“Wailea for Kihei prices”

Mana Kai Maui

Our first trip to Maui...and at the end of the week we did stay at the Grand Walea...my girls (14, 10, 6) would all say they liked the Mana kai better! Rent the ENTIRE unit and you get two bedrooms and two baths. The lanai doors stayed open the entire time. It was wonderful to go to sleep with the waves crashing. My older ones slept in the bedroom on the parking lot side. They complained a little about the noise. The kitchen was great (hit the Costco at the airport before heading south). Even better, the closet was stocked with boogie boards, a cooler and sand castle building stuff. Can't get that at a fancy hotel! As I said in my title...you get the Wailea beaches for Kihei prices. Awesome beach, great chaises, can not beat the location! And the happy hour specials (loved the MaiTais) are great.

“Pleasant stay, great views”

Mana Kai Maui

We stayed in a 2 bdrm, 2 bath unit #212. It was clean, although a little outdated (30+ years old). There had been some renos done to make it comfortable. The views from the lanai were outstanding. We watched the humpback whales everyday from our lanai. The 5 palms restaurant on site had great food, although a little pricey. There are plenty of good restaurants close by (Cafe Ole's, Fred's to name a couple). The snorkelling off of our beach was as good or better than the Coral Cove excursion, my kids saw a sea turtle, puffer fish & trigger fish. All in all, a good vacation for our entire family. Would consider staying a the Mana Kai on our return trip.
